Conformity
What is the pattern of the world? It is the default system and way of life that man in sin live. It is the path one takes when he is carried by the desires of his flesh. The pattern of the world is cruelty, sadness, madness, and destruction but decorated in seemingly fun and joyous times, and so the trap is laid. Conforming to the pattern of this world is like the age old illustration of peer pressure, you go to a party with your friends, and everyone seems to be having fun and they want you to join so they push you to drink or smoke and you fall into it because everyone says you should, because it's fun, and you should enjoy life. Only after do you discover, the worldly path has nothing to truly offer you, the fun is temporary, but the aftermath of emptiness is far more permanent. A lot of times it's the small things that bring people to conform to the pattern of the world, it's the growing habit of lying, the small steps toward selfishness and disrespect, the path where you keep stumbling but people there tell you "it's okay, it doesn't matter, just keep having fun, keep living". But that's not life. Life is found in the Lord who created and formed you, Life is found in the one who can give you peace and security. A moment of fun is not worth distancing yourself from the Lord who loves and cares for you. A want to feel like those around you is irrational because you should be different, this world is dark, and you should be a portion of light shining being the influencer rather than being influenced. When in our pursuit for a happy and successful life we realize what the true source is, it become much easier to stand out of rather than fall in to the world. While the world chases possessions and prestigious positions to declare their joy and accomplishments, we realize that there is no greater joy than knowing the love God has for us and allowing him to transform our lives. There is no greater joy than being gifted the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, no bigger success story than finding the path of light and persevering to the end.

Transformation
But how do you get to this state of mind? How do you become transformed and turn away from the ways of the world? The Scriptures say the key is the renewal of your mind. To renew your mind, you must let go of what you thought you once knew, and allow God to guide you to the truth. To act differently, you must think differently, you must see new things, hear new things, and open yourself to the truth. Once you are shown the light and you sustain it though a constant influx of this truth, you will be able to recognize the masked evils of the world and turn them away. You will be able to help those around you and show them too how to escape the misleading chains in this world. I would suggest always reading the Holy Scriptures which is the truth and is filled with information on how God can guide you to live a life that pleases Him. It tells you what true love is, how to achieve happiness, where to find peace, and the answer to so many other mysteries to those who are still in the dark. Seek more through the Bible and seek more through prayer, ask the Lord to guide you and strengthen you and to keep your mind sharp to understand what God wants and how you can live on the one true path!
